July 2, 2005 Hard to believe this is the last report for Long cruise 2005. Our scouts had a great day of sailing today. They had great winds and sailed up to Langford Creek, a spot we really liked last year. Lat 39 08' Long 76 11'. They are moored out for the night, and they have been swimming and otherwise having a great time. All I could hear in the background was laughing and carrying on... Longrider stayed on with our crew for one more night. I understand they will be heading home from the Chester River tomorrow. They saved the jambalaya and chocolate pie for tonight, so Skip feels fairly certain they'll be jet powered tomorrow. The sky was beautiful this evening, and the sunset was wonderful. I hope they got some pictures. A little friendly sailing competition occurred today with the good ship Delphinus crew deciding to steal the wind away from the good ship Resolute. Skip said he told them it wasn't a good idea to do this (yeah, right). However, the crew of the Resolute decided to respond with papertowel-wad gunfire as Delphinus went by. I guess they took the PVC pipe used for the bimini top and made blow guns out of it. Wouldn't have been much, but I gathered Jarod and Josh were actually able to hit Ezra with one of these paper towel wads... When I asked about advancement, Skip said that he's been signing off on advancement at almost every free moment. So it sounds like we'll have some great progress on ranks. Tomorrow they will be leaving early in the morning, but they likely won't arrive till mid to late afternoon. Once they arrive there will be quite a bit of work to clear the boats and then clean them before the scouts can leave.
