June 23, 2005 Well, as most of you know, we had a large crew heading up to Philadelphia this year. So large, we thought another boat might help relieve crowding, so we hooked up with Ship 759 to make the journey. Skipper James of 759 needed a female advisor for his crew and we needed a little more sleeping room, so it worked out for both ships. Plus, scouts from both ships really enjoy each other. Columbia Ranger's crew of 16 (4 adults and 12 scouts) met tonight at Henderson's to load up at 7PM. Long Rider had started its long cruise a few days before and by the time she reached Henderson's she was experiencing some engine problems. Our crew spent the evening loading, loading and loading. About 11:00PM it was determined that Long Rider had some serious engine problems that would require a complex engine tear down. Anyway, The Powerful Delphinus and the Mighty Resolute are on their way with most of our original crew. Bob Karl has stayed back to help repair Long Rider with James and they will get underway and meet up with Columbia Ranger ASAP. Meghan decided throughout the night that perhaps this wasn't something she was ready for, so she is at the marina with Bob and the Long Rider crew waiting for her mom to come and get her. James & Bob believe they can have the Long Rider operational by evening.
