June 24, 2005 Just got off the phone with Skip, and the cell service was very broken up. The scouts seemed very loud and jovial in the background, so it was hard to make out too many details. Both Delphinus and Resolute had favorable winds all day. They have anchored for the night in Worton Creek, just east of Pooles Island. Lat 39 17' Long 76 10'. They were in the process of making dinner, and as I understood it, the creek was like a pool of water except for the power boaters. That comment I assumed meant that it was pretty choppy, and just one more shot at power boaters... The highlights of the day seemed to be the man-overboard drills. First Resolute, then Delphinus both held man-overboard drills to make sure the crews knew what to do. Before you assume the worst, they throw a lifejacket over and then have to retrieve it safely and timely. On a sailboat that can be quite challenging. Now for our power boaters. As you know, Bob Karl stayed behind to help James today. The two of them have found and purchased all materials necessary to replace the head on the port engine. As of 5 pm it was all apart and the assembly was underway, and as of 8:30 they are ready to test run. The scouts from Ship 759 patiently waited on the docks most of the day, but Angie brought them back for some swimming at our house while the overhaul was taking place this evening. The plans currently have the Longrider scheduled to pull out early tomorrow morning, at which point they should be able to catch up with our crew by mid-afternoon tomorrow, assuming that James will take it a little easy on the way. I called Skip tonight, but for the rest of the cruise, I will await a call from him so I may not get a call til near dark. That's all for now.
